For those who will decide to spend their holidays - or a greater period of their time - in Lesvos and who will want to stay at a place that combines the island's natural beauty with the village's picturesque sights and tranquility without feeling alienated from the rest of the world, Skala Sikamineas seems to offer the ideal environment.

The residence is located near the sea - nine meters separate the courtyard door from the waves - in an olive grove outside the last houses of this small village. The house was designed and built with the architect's full attention to the integration of natural environment, functionality, details and aesthetic simplicity.

The house's environment is sound, strictly natural and decent, with fruitful olives and a cobblestone pavement that joins the sea with the house's courtyard. The shallow sea water is crystal clear and offers for an exhilarating swim whereas the shore is covered in pebbles.

The house is situated amongst the olive groves.

Central heating is available for the winter. The top floor consists of a bedroom with ensuite bath. One can relax and daydream under the carefully constructed wooden two inclination roof. Gaze at the wonderful view of the mountains and the sea from the balcony. Every cavity of the house contains nets that keep insects out of the house in the summer.

Breakfast onto the sunlit balcony outside the bedroom with a wonderful view. A forest of olive trees. The sea on every side. Beyond the courtyard, the fishing boats pass accompanied by sea gulls, the fishermen collect their nets and fish squid. The sun rises and the sun sets. Opposite us, the coast of Asia. Next to us the conserved villages in the nearby verdurous mountains of Lesvos. Embrace the sun the whole day through.

From the sitting room, the French windows do not allow one to lose contact with the environment whereas during the cold nights the fireplace and the wooden roof provide one with a unique blend of warmth. The sitting room's balcony from the side of the sea is roofed. Northerly as it is, it remains cool even during the hottest summer days. Its dew, accompanied by the ebullience of the waves, can caress a pleasant lunch, supper or dinner.

On the other side of the sitting room one can see the courtyard with the pergola. Protected from the sun and the wind, it is ideal for the coffee or the snack that is being prepared in the kitchen, whereas all fruits and drinks remain frozen in the fridge. Food may be served in the dining room as well - an extension of the sitting room.

In the "basement" one can find bedrooms and baths. A detached two-bed room, with a view of the sea, two single-bed rooms with a view of the olive grove and another bed next to the staircase. The "basement" remains cool in the summer even if the windows are shut.

After entering from the secured garage door, one can drive his/her car all the way to the back of the property and park 15 meters away from the courtyard.

The tenement covers 116 sq. meters in total and 43 sq. meters of courtyards and balconies. Consequently it can easily accommodate up to seven people. It shares a 4,000 sq. meters farm, which contains 80 olive trees from the vast olive grove of Sikaminea, with another property and the coast is 1.24 miles long.
